WE CAN RESTORE YOUR WOOD STRUCTURE, EVEN IF ANOTHER FIRM SAID IT CAN’T BE DONE.
We will do almost anything (even patent a new technology) to restore, repair, or design your timber structure to perfection
We hear statements like these every day
If They’re Familiar To You, Then We Can Help.
wHAT TO EXPECT
If you have an existing timber structure, and you’re looking to learn more about it or restore it to its former glory, then this is what you can expect.
(For a new timber structure design, you can skip ahead to step six).
ONE: “NICE TO MEET YOU!”
Reach out to us, and a regional operating manager will get back with you right away.
Our operating managers are our engineering leaders, and they will personally discuss your project with you. You will connect with an expert, not with a sales or customer service department.

2.
TWO: INSPECTION AND DISCOVERY
We will either personally inspect your timber structure or review reports from an inspection you’ve recently commissioned.
While we try to avoid this scenario, we may have to re-inspect a structure, if a report is missing critical elements or has not been conducted recently enough.
THREE: LAB TESTING AND ANALYSIS
We will collect samples, utilizing non-destructive methods, of your timber quality and assess it for strength, durability, and other factors.
3.
4.
FOUR: RECOMMEDATIONS
We will create a customized and comprehensive report of all of our findings, and then make recommendations for the path forward.
FIVE: RESTORATION DESIGN
To restore an existing structure, your design will be one these types:
- “In situation” repair: Design plans to repair an element of your structure, in place.
- “Kind-for-kind” repair: Create plans to remove damaged elements of your structure and replace them with new, reinforced timber.
- “Repurpose and replace” restoration: Our engineers will design a replacement structure, while utilizing as many components from the original as possible.
5.
6.
SIX: NEW CONSTRUCTION DESIGN
To entirely replace an old structure, or to build a new one, you will receive designs and specifications for a structure that will last a century or more.
SEVEN: FIND A BUILDER
Our preferred vendor is Timber Restoration Services, but we will collaborate with any builder you choose.

Why Timber?
There Are A Lot Of Reasons To Love Timber. Here Are A Few.
1. Sustainability: It’s a renewable building material with a low carbon footprint. Building with steel and concrete both emit more carbon.
2. Resilience: Itself a part of nature, timber can withstand nature’s harshest forces, like earthquakes, high winds, fires, and even explosions. Mass timber is naturally fire resistant due to the way it chars during fires, this charring allows it to retain its load-bearing properties during these types of events, leaving the structure intact.
3. Durability: When properly maintained, timber structures last for centuries. Concrete and steel structures and bridges, while popular over the last few decades, require more maintenance and have a shorter total lifespan.
4. Affordability: Many timber structures can be prefabricated, leading to faster build times and lower labor costs. Wood, as a building material, also costs far less than concrete or steel.
5. Aesthetics: Timber structures connect us both to nature and to the past. Restoring a heritage timber structure adds meaning and beauty to the community, and it reminds us that we, and all that we create, are part of a larger story.
