How Wood Research and Development collects, uses, and protects personal information.
Last updated: 13 August 2026
Who we are
Wood Research and Development (WRD) has assessed, tested, and engineered timber structures since 1984. This policy covers woodrandd.com and any personal information you send us through it.
We operate from four offices:
- Jefferson, Oregon, USA — operations and laboratory
- Jacksonville, Florida, USA — corporate
- Hillsborough, New Brunswick, Canada
- Deception Bay, Queensland, Australia
For anything in this policy, including a request about your own data, contact nbadmin@woodrandd.com.
What we collect, and why
We collect personal information in two ways: what you choose to send us through our contact form, and what our web host records automatically.
The contact form. Our contact page has one form. It asks for your name, email address, phone number, organisation, country, which service you are interested in, and details about your structure. We use this solely to answer your enquiry and, where relevant, to prepare a proposal.
We do not store form submissions on this website. The form emails your message to us and keeps no copy in the site database. Your information lives in our email system, not on the web server.
Server logs. Our host records standard technical information for every visit — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. This is used to keep the site running and secure. We do not use it to build a profile of you.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies and tracking
We use a consent manager. Non-essential cookies are blocked until you choose to allow them, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the cookie settings control.
Essential cookies are needed for the site to work — they remember your consent choice and support security. These cannot be switched off.
We do not currently run analytics or advertising trackers on this site. No Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording. If that changes, this policy will be updated first and the trackers will be gated behind your consent.
Who else handles your information
We keep this list short deliberately. These are the only third parties involved in running this website:
- Bluehost — web hosting. Stores the website and its server logs.
- Site Mailer (Elementor) — delivers contact form emails to us.
- Elementor — provides the accessibility widget, which loads on every page.
- Our consent manager — records your cookie choice.
- Imagify — optimises the photographs on this site. It processes images only, never personal information.
Beyond these, we share personal information only where we are legally required to, or where you have asked us to.
Where your information is held
This website and its email are hosted in the United States. If you contact us from Canada, Australia, or elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and stored in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your own country.
By sending us an enquiry you are asking us to respond, which requires that transfer.
How long we keep it
Contact enquiries are kept in our email system for as long as we may reasonably need them for the enquiry and any resulting work, and are then deleted.
Server logs are retained by our host according to their own schedule, typically a matter of weeks.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you
- correct anything inaccurate
- delete it
- stop using it
Email nbadmin@woodrandd.com and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to your regulator:
- Australia — Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)
- Canada — Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC)
- United States — your state Attorney General, where your state provides privacy rights
Children
This site is for professional and commercial use. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and access to our email and hosting is restricted to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not collect payment details or sensitive personal information through this website, which limits what is at risk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. For anything significant, we will say what changed.
